Roller Door Prices NZ 2026 — What Should You Budget?

 Roller Door Prices NZ 2026

Roller door prices in NZ vary more than most people expect. The height, width, steel type, and whether you need an automatic opener all affect the final cost — and the difference between a basic domestic door and a large commercial installation can be over $10,000.

This guide covers supply-only pricing for the most common roller door types available in NZ in 2026. All prices are for NZ-made doors delivered to your site.

Domestic Roller Door Prices NZ

Domestic roller doors are the standard choice for home garages and lifestyle shed access. In NZ, these are made by two main manufacturers: Windsor Doors and Garador (both NZ-made, with Garador owned by B&D NZ).

What's not included? Installation labour, automatic opener, and freight (freight is separate and based on your location).

Automatic Opener Prices

Commercial doors can be specified up to 4800mm–4900mm wide. Pricing increases with width. Windlock (high-wind) guides are available and are required in many coastal and exposed locations.

What Affects Roller Door Prices Most?

Height is the biggest driver. A 3200mm door uses significantly more steel than a 2200mm door — expect to pay 30–50% more for the same width.

Width matters too, but less dramatically. Most width increments add $50–$150 per 300mm of additional width.

Steel type: Zincalume is the standard base price. Coloursteel finishes cost more but look better and are recommended for visible garage doors.

High-wind guides: Standard guides are fine for sheltered locations. If you're in a coastal, elevated, or exposed area, windlock guides are worth the additional $500–$1200 — they're significantly stronger and may be required to meet building consent wind load requirements.

Delivery: Roller doors are bulky freight items. Delivery to most NZ main centres is available

Supply-Only vs Supply and Install

DoorsNZ sells supply-only. This suits DIY-capable customers and tradies who want to source their own door and fit it themselves or use their own contractor.

If you want full installation, budget an additional $400–$900 for a domestic door (labour only), depending on your location and the complexity of the job.

Is a Roller Door Cheaper Than a Sectional Door?

Generally yes — for equivalent sizes, roller doors are typically $300–$700 cheaper than sectional panel doors. Sectional doors offer better insulation and a different aesthetic, but roller doors use less headroom and have lower maintenance requirements over time.
