Roller door prices in NZ vary more than most people expect. The height, width, steel finish, and whether you need an automatic opener all affect the final cost — and the difference between a basic domestic door and a large commercial installation can be over $10,000.

This guide covers supply-only pricing for the most common roller door types available in NZ in 2026. All prices are for NZ-made doors delivered to your site (see delivery T&c'S), and reflect current DoorsNZ pricing.

Domestic Roller Door Prices NZ

Domestic roller doors are the standard choice for home garages, sheds, and lifestyle block access. In NZ, these are made by two manufacturers: Windsor Doors and Garador (B&D NZ) — both manufacturing locally to order.

Standard domestic roller door — supply only, no opener:

Opening Height Single garage (to ~3000mm wide) Double garage (to ~5500mm wide)
2200mm From $1,084 From $1,580
2500mm From $1,158 From $1,680
3000mm From $1,402 From $2,010
3200mm From $1,521 From $2,180

Prices shown are for Zincalume® (unpainted) finish. Coloursteel® adds approximately $70–$200 depending on door size. All prices exclude freight, which is calculated at checkout based on your region.

What's included in the supply price? The door curtain, guides, bottom rail, lock barrel, and all hardware needed for installation. The door is made to your exact opening size and delivered.

What's not included? Automatic opener (but available as an add-on), installation labour, and freight.

PA Door Prices NZ

Personal access (PA) doors are man-door openings installed within or alongside a roller door — they allow foot traffic without having to raise the main door. Useful in garages, sheds, and commercial premises with frequent pedestrian access.

What Affects Roller Door Prices Most?

Height is the biggest cost driver. A 3200mm door uses significantly more steel than a 2200mm door — expect to pay 30–50% more for the same width at greater height.

Width adds cost more gradually. Most width increments add $50–$180 per 300mm of additional width.

Steel finish: Zincalume® is the base price — a zinc-aluminium coating that gives a natural silver-grey appearance. Coloursteel® (pre-painted in a range of NZ colours) costs more but suits visible facades. For properties within 500m of the ocean, Coloursteel® Endura is the correct coastal-grade finish — ask at ordering.

High-wind guides: Standard guides suit sheltered locations. For coastal, elevated, or exposed sites — which describes much of NZ — windlock guides add $150–$350 and are often required to meet building consent wind load specifications.

Freight: Roller doors are bulky freight items. Delivery to main NZ centres is typically $220 per door. Rural and remote locations attract a surcharge calculated at checkout.

Supply-Only vs Supply and Install

DoorsNZ sells supply-only. This suits homeowners comfortable with DIY installation and tradies who want to source their own door. All doors come with installation guides and the manufacturers provide technical support.

If you prefer to use an installer, budget approximately $400–$900 additional for domestic installation labour, depending on your location and job complexity.

Is a Roller Door Cheaper Than a Sectional Door?

Generally yes. For equivalent sizes, roller doors are typically $500–$900 cheaper than sectional panel doors at supply-only prices. Sectional doors offer better insulation and a more architectural appearance, but roller doors use less headroom, have fewer moving parts, and cost less to buy and maintain over time.
